DataRecovery – Free Data Recovery Tool
Review by on
Some computer users believe that if you deleted a file, that file is gone forever. This is not the case! The files someone deleted are truly gone only when they are overwritten. The operating system may tell you that the files are gone, but unless they been overwritten, they are still on the hard drive. And if it they are there, they can be recovered.

All that’s needed is a data recovery tool – like the Tokiwa-developed application DataRecovery. As the name so adequately points out, this I is a data recovery tool. What this application will do is scan your system, and bring deleted files back to life. This sort of functionality is great if you, say, accidentally deleted a file.

There is more to say about the functionality this application provides. Besides bringing deleted files back to life, this application will ensure that deleted files remain deleted. DataRecovery comes with a secure wipe feature that securely deletes files – permanently.

If you want to get DataRecovery and put it to the test there are two more things you need to know about this application. First up you need to know that using DataRecovery on your Windows-powered computer is a fairly straightforward process. The application comes with a simple, easy to use interface that should not pose a problem to any user – not even the novice computer user. Next up you need to know that you can use DataRecovery free of charge for as long as you want – DataRecovery is freeware.

If you were looking for a free, easy to use application to bring your accidentally deleted files back to life, then you need to give DataRecovery a try.

Pros
  • Lightweight download size (some 200KB)
  • Doesn’t need to be installed
  • Nice, easy to use interface
  • Freeware

Cons
  • Recovering lost data is never a guarantee. You may sometimes fail to recover some of the deleted files you need.
  • Can only wipe files it detects during the scan
  • Can’t select specific folders to scan
